【August 3rd= KEJ Saito Mizuki/ Translator= Jeong Ji-Hyun】 The K-Pop groups SHINee and Kara, both extremely popular even in Japan, announced that they are singing the Original Soundtrack for the drama “Stranger 6” along with the representative Japanese guitarist/singer Hotei Tomoyasu.
An epic collaboration between Korea, China, and Japan, this new drama follows the story of six government agents from the three countries as they work together on a project greater than their emotions and nationalities. Including Oh Ji-Ho (35) and Karasawa Toshiaki (48), six well-known actors from the three countries will perform as main characters.
The three teams of musicians were chosen as representatives of each country; a Chinese artist is soon to be selected as well, making the soundtrack a healthy competition between the three nations’ best musicians.
The drama’s main theme song went to SHINee, an acknowledged K-Pop group that debuted in Japan in June and has held events even in London, England. While SHINee brightens the drama with an upbeat dance track, Kara plans to adorn the romantic moments with a soft, lyrical song. Meanwhile, Hotei Tomoyasu, well-renowned for the theme song for the 2003 Hollywood film “Kill Bill,” will sing the drama’s futuristic and suspenseful opening song.
The three artists’ songs will all be released in December along the drama’s OST album. Besides the three, many other musicians from all over Asia will participate in the making of the soundtrack.
Meanwhile, “Stranger 6” will be the first time ever the three Far-Eastern countries work together on a single drama. It is planned to be broadcasted in more than 10 different countries; in Japan, it will air on the cable channel WOWOW this winter and on Fuji TV next year.
