Tohoshinki Takes Lead on Japan’s Oricon Rankings

[2010-03-30 10:47:00]

The popular group Tohoshinki’s 30th Japanese single “Toki Wo Tomete” (“Stop the Time”) ranked as the 1st on the Oricon Daily Singles Chart on March 24th, the date of its release. The single sold 125,000 copies. The mix album “TVXQ Nonstop Mix Vol. 2”, which was released the same day, placed 2nd on the Daily Chart, raising the exciting question: will the single and the album be the firsts on the upcoming Weekly Chart?

“Toki Wo Tomete” was originally included in TVXQ’s Tohoshinki’s album “The Best Selection 2010”, released in February; at the request of passionate fans, the song came to be released also as a single. The song gained much popularity for being featured as the background music of the Menard’s cosmetics commercial. Other songs on the new mix album include U-Know Yunho’s solo “Checkmate.”

Tohoshinki’s achievements are also great on the DVD rankings. The DVD “Tohoshinki Video Clip Collection – The One-,” released on the 17th, took the lead on the overall DVD rankings. With this record, Tohoshinki placed the first on the rankings for the second time since their DVD “4th Live Tour 2009 – The Secret Code – Final in Tokyo Dome” last September; this makes them the artist who has gotten the most first places internationally.
