【July 1st, Shibuya, Tokyo = KEJ Koo Hye Jin/Translator=Jeong Ji Hyun】Famous Korean star Ryu Si Won displayed deep grief for the death of his fellow celebrity Park Yong Ha. On July 1st, Si Won held the last concert of his 2-month long Japanese tour “Fun Fan” at Tokyo’s Yoyogi National Gymnasium. At the interview before the show, he began by commenting on Yong Ha’s death:
“I cannot describe in words how I feel about this sudden event. Although we had been very busy lately, he did call me on the phone during the tour. He wished me luck on the tour and told me he would be at the racing games that begin July 3rd. He sounded cheerful.”
Ryu Si Won revealed that he heard of the news on the 30th and, sadly looking down, that he “still cannot believe it and do not know what to say. It just hurts me very much.” Yong Ha and Si Won knew each other since the early times when Korean cultural wave (otherwise known as “Hanryu”) had just begun to take place in Japan; Yong Ha’s death was therefore especially shocking to Si Won. “We even promised each other that we’d do a drama together someday…” He could not continue for a long time afterwards.
About his concert that was to begin at 4 p.m., Si Won said “it will be the most difficult concert that I have ever done. My fans are also very sad right now, but I’ll do my best. Today, I’ll be singing for Yong Ha.”
