【July 26th Seoul=KEJ Toshida Emi/ Photographer= Song Min-Jae/ Translator= Jeong Ji-Hyun】The popular male group Super Junior, who has just recently led SM Town’s concert in France to success, has now become Korea’s tourism ambassador.
On July 26th at 10:00 am, the “Korea Tourism Organization and SM Entertainment’s MoU Signing” as well as “Super Junior’s Korean Tourism Ambassador Appointment Ceremony” were held at the Korea Tourism Organization’s building in Jung-Gu, Seoul. SM Entertainment’s representative director Kim Young-Min and Super Junior’s Lee Teuk (leader, 28), Eun-Hyuk (25), Sung-Min (25), and Shin-Dong (25) attended the event. An overflowing number of both Korean and international fans and reporters joined the site, flooding out of the prepared auditorium and even into the hallways.
Super Junior was appointed as Korea’s tourism ambassador because they came in first in a survey asking for “the Hallyu star you wish to travel Korea with the most.” Upon receiving the trophy from Lee Cham, the representative of Korea Tourism Organization, Lee Teuk said, “It’s an honor to be chosen as the tourism ambassador, thanks to the many who have rooted for us. We will make the best use of our energy to help introduce Korea to the rest of the world.”
When asked about a Korean tourist attraction he would like to recommend, Lee Teuk said, “There are several, but I think Jeju Island would be best for the summer. It would also be helpful to look into Pyung-Chang for the 2018 Winter Olympics.”
At the event, Super Junior’s representative company SM Entertainment also signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Korea Tourism Organization. The two companies plan to collaborate on further developing and globalizing Korea’s entertainment and tourism enterprises.
Meanwhile, Super Junior will release their fifth album in Korea on August 3rd.
